a drug addiction doesnt end cos of a financial crisis, they will just get more and more desperate and in the end will resort to killing people for their money! up until now if you were robbed you could just claim it back on insurance but if theres nothing to rob the addicts will start killing!!
I hadn't considered this angle.  Why wouldn't they turn on the dealers for not lowering prices in a crisis?

Im moving to the country before that happens. the cities are going to be hell holes and its going to resemble something like a mad max film!  shock
If you can, prepare to get away from any big city now.

What scares me most is that during the last depression there were not the number of drug addicts as there are now. A lot of them survivie by burgaling peoples houses and petty theft and prostitution. what happens if people dont hire pros anymore cos they cant afford to? what happens if people dont buy expensive goods anymore cos they cant afford to? what will the drug addicts do to fund their habits?

Exactly why I plan to stay in the country.  In the middle of nowhere will be the safest place to be.

Now is also the time to have a well dug.  That way you will always have water.

And everyone should buy a generator if you don't already have one.

Get prepared people.

Yes the drug dealers will be hit hard by these tough economic times too. If the drug addicts cant buy due to lack of money then the dealers wont have anyone to sell to!! Wow, an entire industry could be inadvertently wiped out!!  lol sign

I live in a city of 45k. We have plenty of water and wood. The winters are very cold up here, however. We could survive though.

Hey FC  hi

I believe Canadians are a bit more laid back and less violent than Americans.

Unfortunately popular media and American society as a whole glamourises and reveres violence as the ultimate solution to any problem.  So, in the case of Americans, when their backs are up against the wall they are more likely to seek a violent solution.

I worry less for other countries though all will have similar problems.

Violence takes up too much energy. I'd rather just sit back and enjoy the scenery.
