We won't, this one will be worse.
I keep hearing that, but its hard to believe. I have heard stories from what the 1930's depression was like. Al Capone opened soup kitchens in the 1930's to feed the hungry in Chicago. I wonder who will feed the hungry if it happens again? Everyone will be broke. So Fine Point when do you think all of this will happen? Before the end of the year? Next year? 5 years from now? And Wizer, if it does happen, I believe paying child support will be the least of your worries? Are you stocking up on TV dinners? Guns? Ammino? can goods? Maybe even a hiding place in the woods? Who knows how bad it could really get? Do we even need to worry about this.....for something that "might" happen? Thoughts anyone?

I hope it will bring a lot of families back together so they can all support one another rather than separate and try and compete with one another to see who has the bigger house, car, TV etc.
My son and I plan on buying a house together soon. Its the best time to buy one, cos people are selling them so cheap, but to buy one on your own would be financial suicide, but together you can achieve the dream of home ownership. If I can convince my daughter to be in on it as well then all the better, but some family members want to go it alone and do it themselves. Life doesnt need to be that hard, if one can just swallow their pride and be a team player.

I believe this will be one of the silver linings in this very dark cloud.

IMO, things will neither return to the "Camelot" state we had in this country during the Kennedy years, nor will they fall into complete anarchy (unless we are the target of a nuclear or similar attack), anytime soon. It's just a setback, part of the cycle of events.

People seem to be expecting the worst.
No real signs that it's going to be any more than a protracted recession and there are some indications that things will improve this year.

How deeply have you dug into the subject?

A medium- to large-scale natural disaster could also tip the scales.

Admittedly not too much. My appointment book is full, I've got money in the bank and I'm paying my bills. I guess I haven't been inclined to do much else than shrug my shoulders at the reports I see floating around.

You know what wizer? As long as you are doing well, I don't see why you should pay attention EXCEPT you're in a large city and there is the possibility of riots and roving gangs should the worst happen. That's all you need to worry about. Prepare an emergency and escape plan, have an escape location chosen well ahead of time and maintain a bag packed with essentials (this will vary depending on your escape location). If you need guidance on what might be essential e.g., medication, personal care items or items to survive outside in cold weather, google "survival bag."

Am I in a large city? I think of it as the suburbs..but I guess everything is relative. I'll just teach my dog to attack on command.

Well the idea is to get, at a minimum, 50-miles away from any large population centre. I neglected to mention that earlier.
Get planning!

Look around skylla, it's already started...
Its actually not affected me as of yet, my house payment is paid up to date, credit cards up to date, all bills are paids, freezer and cabinets are stocked, I haven't felt anything different as of yet, although I do keep hearing about it in the news with others. My biggest concern is if everything crashes.....no food to be bought....no gas...no electric....etc....the people in the large cities would all be leaving and looking elsewhere, people will kill to survive......but believe me us country folk are getting prepared....guns, amino, food, water....lots of blood shed could happen if things get really bad. Its hard to believe things could actually get that bad.
