I gave my cat a bath this morning and my throat started to feel constricted. I think I'm allergic to my cat! When she licks me I get hives but I never had my throat feel so congested. If I brush her, I put on rubber gloves and I try not to hold her too much because of the hives. I didn't have gloves on while bathing her so I guess that could be why I got that reaction. S/O usually does this so I'm thinking he will continue on doing this. Otherwise, I'm fine. Oh, I also noticed that my $50 face cream is giving me these little red bumps and my skin is a tad blotchy. Lovely. Must be the perfume in it. S/O will not be using it. LOL. I'm going to stick to Eucerine and Vaseline. It makes my skin really soft. I just wanted to try to anti-aging stuff. It just made me look worse.

FC, Try recipes for making your own cosmetics. If you wish to add fragrance use essential oils instead and you may have fewer adverse reactions. MakeYourCosmetics

Consider taking OTC Benadryl to help reduce the allergic symptoms.
Sometimes you can develop a hypersensitivity reaction to environmental stimuli that never bothered you before. A classic example is Poison Ivy. About one in 4 is "immune" to the toxins but the rest of us break out in an itchy rash..which gets worse with repeated exposure.

I don't like taking medication so I usually just avoid the stimuli.

That's always a good idea, but in this case the stimuli found YOU.

I just need to wear rubber gloves when I'm brushing or bathing my cat. I don't think this would have happened if I had done so in the first place.

If it's that easy to avoid it then yeah that would definitely be the way to go. It could have been something ON the cat. It could be something "the cat dragged in".

My cat does not go outside. She only sleeps, eats and shits. I wonder why it just happened all of a sudden. Maybe she found a way to sneak out of the house but when she sees you coming home she slips back in unnoticed. I would start checking
