I'm a dog person myself. I honestly don't get the whole cat thing.

-they aren't all that affectionate
-you can't take them for walks
-they don't normally learn tricks nor do they respond to commands

What's the point?

cats are more affectionate then you think. Smokey is redic. She whines outside my door at night for hours because she wants to sleep with me.. she will park herself on my stomach and chill for 30 mins or more if i don't move her.

True. I never had one so I am not really one to talk...

Just walked back with my son from cubs - Sticky (My **** is sticky!) Met us at the end of the road - she is curled up on my knee as I type this - cats give love back, in my opinion.

You call your **** "Sticky"?

Why?

My son - 'Manchild' picked her up and she 'stuck' to his jumper - hence 'Sticky' - I do like having a 'sticky ****'.

It's a damn good thing she wasn't bleeding when Manchild picked her up

Cats are like women, they do give back love if its given to them, dogs are more like men, you can treat them mean and they still want more. If a guy had me on his lap and stroked my hair, I'd be giving him affection too. People are a lot more gentle with cats too, they seem to stroke them while with dogs you pat them and rough them around a bit.

My **** is very gentle, the only time she gets aggressive is when the tom cats come courting. She doesnt want to have anything to do with them. She's 13 and had a litter of kittens 12 yrs ago and is desexed. I think she's over all that sex business, but they just won't leave her alone. I have to go outside and throw a bucket of cold water over the male cats whenever they come round! It's exactly what I went through with my daughter a couple of years ago when all the guys would come round to the front door!

Animals and men, is there a difference? Theres an idea for another topic, trouble is there'd be no debate, the answer would always be 'no there is no difference!'  :lolsign:( I know how much John loves his lol signs)

I have heard lots of stories about women being treated like dirt, even physically abused by their male partners and yet they still go back for more.

nah shouldn't say that, but I'm not talking about beating people over the head type of mean, even your dog wouldn't love you after that, but just not giving yourself completely. Dogs seem eager to please while cats want you to please them, you don't really need to run around your room trying to pick up your dog it will come to you, but cats are different you have to chase after them sometimes.

But mine comes to me and gives me love bites and kisses. She knows I love her and we been together for 13 yrs, I can understand her different meows and know when she wants food and when she want a cuddle and when she wants to be let out and when she needs to go to the loo and when she's just restless.

You really do get back what you give out.

That is so true - I was 'counselling' a loonytune on MSN last night - the penultimate time her man beat her was the 'last' - Ho hum - long story short - he is now in prison, on remand awaiting trial for breaking her ribs - She said 'At least this will give him time to dry out and change'.  Oh yes, I always thought a Leopard would look good in stripes! 

Perhaps the woman only got two black eyes because she didn't listen the first time?

I want to get one of those one day. They are beautiful cats. I like the look of chinchillas too but the hair they would shed would drive me mad.

The pissing out of the cage ain't too clever either!

Nope.. she is just garden variety alley cat!  I found her at the pound.. they had this big bird cage full of tiny kittens and the majority of them were crying and looking sad.. Smokey was running up to loads of them and smacking them in the face.. I saw that and said "thats the cat for me!"
